Teacher Indicted on 8 Felony Counts – TUSD Still Might Keep Her Contract

Written By: PT on July 15, 2010 2 Comments

Decisions are like so totally hard to make, ya know.  So what if the teacher was getting it on with her student and drugs were involved.  Is that really a big deal?  Apparently, 8 felony indictments will not get you kicked to the curb in TUSD.

A Tucson teacher arrested last month after police say sexually explicit photos of her were found on a teen’s cell phone has been indicted on eight felonies.  Jennifer Lynn Whiting, 32, is charged with four counts of sexual conduct with a minor, three counts of involving or using minors in drug offenses and one count of furnishing obscene or harmful items to minors.

Other than those pesky felonies, she’s probably perfect for the job…..

Although Whiting has been offered a teaching contract for the 2010-2011 school year, the Tucson Unified School District has not yet decided if she will be allowed to return in the fall, said TUSD legal counsel Rob Ross.  Ross said he plans to speak with Whiting’s attorney, Dan Cooper, and hopes they can come to a resolution on how the matter will be handled before school starts.

Teachers Unions are always bashing home-schooling, usually with the reason that the children will not be exposed to enough “socialization” if they are home-schooled.  Now you know what they mean by “socialization”.  Cue Van Halen’s Hot for Teacher……….

You know, in this time of economic downfall, finding teachers is really tough to do. We gotta keep the ones who will be able to “entice” them to stay in school.
I mean,. there is a shortage of teachers, isn’t there?
    !!!!!
I really would like to know where the outrage from the parents of these students is. How is this not the top on the news and an horrible thing in this community?
There should be laws as to the age difference between children and teachers, teenagers are tought by old grandparents,. pre-teens by parents, and grade school by newly out of college teachers.
    to get experience.
