Are You Secretly Being Tricked By Government Illusions Too?
I like to watch magic shows on television. I record them and play them back slowly to see if I can pick up on the trick. Good magicians can fool even the keenest eyes. Sometimes I’m fooled and sometimes I can see right through the ruse. The sleight of hand trick used by magicians has been used by politicians for centuries. And it works quite well in the hands of skilled politicians.
Here’s how the trick works: While the crowd is looking at what the right hand is doing the left hand sneaks something by them that is not seen because of the distraction. Simple parlor trick? Not in politics. Sometimes if you watch closely you can see the trick, but most times you can’t. Make no mistake about it, my friend, things aren’t as they appear, you are being tricked, the left hand is doing something while you are being distracted by the right hand. Like icebergs there is way more going on underneath than what is going on the surface.
Here’s the scary part: Like famous magicians, politicians have graduated from simple parlor tricks to elaborate and intricately detailed illusions that require assistants, props, smoke and mirrors, and well timed execution. No folks, we are no longer dealing with simple sleight of hand tricks; we’re in the big leagues now.
Which brings me to the point of this article: Are you good at catching the trick? If you play it back slowly do you think you can see what the left hand is doing? Come now; let’s be honest, how many times have you been fooled? I’m pretty good at catching magician’s tricks, but I must admit that many times I have been fooled by politicians. Partly because they are so darn good at it, and partly because I’m not as skilled at catching their trickery as I could be.
Have you ever seen the Masked Magician’s television show? He’s the one who lets you peek behind the curtain and shows you how the trick was done. But not to worry, we are wonderfully blessed to have some very skilled eyes looking out for the illusions that are happening daily in our government. Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Robert Ringer, and Michelle Malkin (to name only a few) are the big hitters. These guys may not catch all the tricks all the time, but good thing is that there are enough of them and they all do a great job making themselves heard; one of them is bound to catch what’s going on.
By the law of averages they should be able to catch most, if not all of the sleights being pulled. What one doesn’t catch the other one will. You might not be skilled yourself at catching the trick all the time but I hope you get two things out of reading this: One, we are being tricked. Two, fortunately there are some very capable people who with quick eyes see the tricks. Listen to them, follow them, they’ll lead the way.
But please understand, this isn’t a magic show, this isn’t entertainment, this is real life. The tricks being pulled by our governing leaders are destroying our freedoms and are dramatically affecting our way of life. We cannot afford to be tricked by them. We cannot allow them to weaken our Constitution any further by their sleight of hand.
Open your eyes people, and what you don’t catch, hope to heaven someone does. Our freedom is at stake – something we can’t let disappear.

Thanks you Michael,
This is wonderful writing. I agree with you in that we have been kept busy with the “left hand” of politics while the “right hand” plots and plans how to “slip” this bill or that bill into a law.
We must stay diligent in the watch of our government, for with out the watch, we are lost.
Dear Mr. Claridge,
You write with skill but not with substance. Be specific. What freedoms are we in danger of loosing because of this administration, or are you speaking of the last one?
What criteriria do you use to measure the so called guardians of our freedom? Rush! The most pathetic hypocrite on radio; Sean? A well meaning half educated blabbermouth who has a fifth grade knowledge of history and hasn’t yet learned how to conduct an interview. Beck? I’m still trying to him out. Give me a brake………….
Herb
Herb,
A 2-point penalty for name calling. Not allowed here!!!
If you do not like Rush, please cite specific examples as to why. ( That is what you just told Michael to do). If you do not like Sean, again, please cite specific examples as to why.
(“I heard that….. is NOT specific. Give details of your disagreement with them. Example: On Rush’s website, he lists that _____ did _____. He is wrong. I have researched the subject and found evidence to the contrary from http://www.____.com.) Fair enough?
As I write my blog, I am opinionated in my posts, but I will always try to point to a fact or a statement from a reliable source. I try to NOT use another blog’s post as a source, but try to reseach out the source itself.
Be courteous. Be specific.
Thx, papatodd
Herb.
Let me be more detailed on the whole name calling rule.
If I call Representative Alan Grayson(Dem-Fl) an arrogant A__hole and can back it up by pointing to a speech by this blowhard ( like http://www.papatodd.com/?p=1632 ) then it is OK.
If I say Senator Olympia Snowe is brain-dead ball of hair…..well that might not be the best example, but hopefully you get the drift….
PT
@Herb thanks for your kind remarks about my writing. I felt that I would go easy on my first go around and be more fluff than substance, because I was certain that I wouldn’t get flamed the very first time out. But it didn’t take long to see that was only a pipe dream.
No harm. I’ve got skin as thick as an elephant. So keep the fiery darts a coming.
AND … PT, thanks for your direction, kindness, and all-around good-guy-ness.
Now to the substance you missed in the post, but only a few – too many and not nearly enough time to even scratch the surface:
First, I would like defend the examples that I chose to use:
What criterion do I use? Truth.
20+ million people listen Rush daily – how many listen to you Herb? Go ahead and count you pets if you need to increase that number. The point being, he might be arrogant, might even be a bit pompous, but the man does shed a lot of light on what the left hand is doing. And as I said in my article – he might not catch it all, but you want substance, listen to him – 20+ million people can’t all be wrong.
Sean is very well meaning, and does more in one week to shine the light on the lies, hypocrisies, and evils being perpetrated on us by big government than most Americans do in their entire lives. That’s substance too.
Glenn? Well he is outright crazy busy. This year alone he is doing a dauly radio show, a daily TV show, writing 4 books and doing a concert tour. I think that counts for substance too.
Michelle Malkin – have you seen her Blog? She is the queen of substance.
I know in your response you wanted more substance from me, but I first wanted to express to you just why I chose the examples I did – they provide more substance than I possibly could in one simple article, and they do it daily, and also do a dang good job.
Just because I didn’t give examples of substance, doesn’t mean that the examples I did use couldn’t carry the argument. The point is: We are being lied to, used, abused, and cheated out of our freedoms daily by very astute, cunning, conniving, and evil politicians who behind closed doors devise plans to steal away our freedoms. And pleeeeeeeease don’t insult my intelligence and get into a partisan argument – it’s all the tax and spend BIG government politicians that I am referring to – no matter what administration.
Here, let me give you a few:
Let’s start with Al Gore, shall we?
He’s one of the most inconvenient politicians to come our way. His movie “Inconvenient Truths” which by the way he won a Nobel Prize for had 9 errors (untruths) that were found by a England court in 2007. Each of the nine “errors” identified by the judge had been admitted by the UK Government to be “inconsistent with the mainstream of scientific opinion.” (https://www.downstreamtoday.com/News/ArticlePrint.aspx?aid=18043&AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1)
When Al was vice President he was worth only a few million, but now is conveniently worth hundreds of millions. Just last month Obama’s Government gave him billions to open a green car manufacturer in Finland. I’d say he’s profiting quite nicely from the heat, and his lies have caused many of our politicians to hop on the Global Warming Scam; they implement bills and laws that in the end will only pad their pockets with our money and increase our lost freedoms.
Here’s another one for you:
Let’s use a recent one – how about the fairness doctrine? Obama’s aides just bashed the FOX Network. The president avoided Fox when he visited five Sunday morning news shows last month, and just recently the White House blog accused Glenn Beck of lying. But you might say that is all that Rush, Sean, and Glenn do – bash the president. True – that’s because they are free, protected by the Constitution. Just like Obama is free to do the same. That is why the fairness doctrine should be done away with. If we don’t watch what the left hand is doing we will someday in the not-too-distant future be like Chavez’s Venezuela – where only one side is able to speak. Last time I checked Herb that’s NOT freedom.
Last one for now:
One of the most horrific illusions being perpetrated on the US citizenry is what’s going on with the illegal alien situation. Here’s some substance that will curl your hair. There is an email circulating around that gives some really bad statistics about illegal immigrants in just LA alone. I didn’t want to go on that alone so I searched Snopes.com to verify the numbers.(http://www.snopes.com/politics/immigration/taxes.asp) Even though Snopes.com debunks many of these by a few percentages the real truth is still very scary.
Every day we lose our freedoms to illegal immigrants. I speak fluent Spanish. I love the Hispanic people. But if I were to move to Mexico I would have to speak Spanish – not so with Hispanic people in the US. Even if I legally moved to Mexico I couldn’t purchase land – not so in the US. I could go on and on about the obvious differences – they are many.
I find it very odd that the real truth about illegal immigrants isn’t being talked about. The truth seems to be the enemy. I don’t hear Pelosi telling everyone the real truth. I don’t her Grijalva telling us the real truth about illegal immigrants. Why? Again, the left hand is hiding while the right hand is distracting. All along our freedoms are disappearing.
@Herb you may not agree with my point of view on this but I hope you don’t think I’m blind too. I see my freedoms disappearing daily and quite frankly I’m pissed as hell.
And @Herb if you are one of those who believe that BIG government is the answer to the woes that befall us then I WILL NOT GIVE YOU A BRAKE! As my mother has always says, “If you ain’t part of the solution, you is part of the problem.” I hope you aren’t going to be a problem, but I welcome your brotherhood in being part of the solution.
