The Chicago Way – mass murder is OK as long as it happens in slow motion
While the country still reels from the acts of one crazed gunman in Aurora, and politicians [with the help of the MSM] again banging the drum for new and better gun control laws, one can’t help but wonder why there is no outrage over the daily slaughter happening on the streets of Chicago. Like some bad Sam Peckinpah movie, the homicides are in slow motion. Day in and day out more innocent men , women and children are being gunned down at a staggering rate.
Why just last night in Chi-Town:
Six people were shot and five of them died during a bloody 12-hour period between 4 p.m. Thursday and 4 a.m. Friday, according to Chicago police.
Among the dead: two men in their early 30s in a gang-related slaying on the Southeast Side, a 22-year-old former CPS basketball player who recently committed to a Division 1 school for basketball, a 35-year-old clerk at a West Side gas station and a 25-year-old man killed in a drive-by attack in the Park Manor neighborhood…
So very recently:
On Monday July 10th, nine young people were killed and 17 wounded in suspected gang-related violence the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
Where is the national outrage? With a weekly body count approaching that of the Aurora tragedy, the MSM must have missed this story. Similar to the old adage of how to boil a frog, if it happens ever so slowly, maybe no one will pay attention….
Chicago this week reached 250 homicides for 2012—the worst start to a year in nine years, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found.
The city has not reached the 250-homicide mark for the first half of the year since 2003, which saw 286 homicides for the first half of the year and 601 homicides for the entire year, according to a 2009 Chicago Police Department report.
Homicides this year are up 36 percent compared to the same period last year, as of Wednesday afternoon, according to RedEye data.
Forty homicides have been recorded so far this month. Forty-four homicides were logged in June 2011, RedEye determined.
So now we have found what the “acceptable level” of homicides are for those on the left. 10 a week? No problem. No need for concern.
But Obama’s Former-Chief-of Staff-turned-Mayor Rahm Emanuel has a plan to quell the violence. With all the speed of a “bullet-move ” from The Matrix, he is hitting back and hitting backing twice as hard with this two-pronged strategy on the streets of the once great Windy City.
Step One: Appeal to the “values” of Chicago gangs:
In an interview with CBS Evening News, Emanuel spoke on the ongoing violence in his city:
“Chicago’s street thugs are going to attack each other, they should take their fight away from innocent children.
We’ve got two gangbangers, one standing next to a kid. Get away from that kid. Take your stuff away to the alley. Don’t touch the children of the city of Chicago.
Don’t get near them, and it is about values. As I said then when a 7-year-old girl was shot and killed last month, who raised you? How were you raised?
And I don’t buy this case where people say they don’t have values. They do have values. They have the wrong values. Don’t come near the kids don’t touch them.”
Step Two: Bring in the likes of anti-Semitic community organizer Louis Farrakhan and his “Army Fruit of Islam”to calm the streets.
Ignoring Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan’s history of anti-Semitic remarks, Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Wednesday welcomed the army of men dispatched to the streets by Farrakhan to stop the violence in Chicago neighborhoods.
“People of faith have a role to play [Except Chick-Fil-A Christians] and community leaders have a role to play in helping to protect our neighborhoods and our citizens. You cannot get there on just one piece of an anti-crime strategy,” the mayor said.
“The police have a role to play. Tearing down abandoned buildings has a role to play. Shutting liquor stores that are a cancer in the community have a role to play. Community leaders have a role to play. Pastors have a role to play. Principals have a role to play. And most importantly, parents have roles to play. They have decided, the Nation of Islam, to help protect the community. And that’s an important ingredient, like all the other aspects of protecting a neighborhood.”
For the last two Mondays, black men in dress suits and bow ties fanned out across violence-plagued Chicago neighborhoods — first Auburn-Gresham, then South Shore — to form a human wall of protection against any sudden outbreak of gunfire.
The army of men, know as the Fruit of Islam, were led by Farrakhan, who ordered the show of force in response to last month’s brutal murder of seven-year-old Heaven Sutton.
And how’s that working so far? Why just the other night, another two homicides were committed.
South Deering saw a double homicide Monday, officials said. A 17-year-old boy and a 34-year-old woman were shot to death in the 2100 block of East 96th Place, police said. South Deering has logged four homicides so far this year. The South Side community area recorded three homicides last year, RedEye data shows.
And why the blood continues to flow, Lord Emanuel has moved onto much more pressing issues, denigrating Chick-fil-A.Mayor Rahm Emanuel, was recently quoted,
“Chick-Fil-A values are not Chicago values. They disrespect our fellow neighbors and residents.
Chicago’s values? Letting your children get gunned down in the streets on a regular basis? I think not. The whole scene makes me miss the “good-old-days” of Mayor Daley [the first one]. Sure he was a mean SOB, but at least the city worked. Chicago actually used to thrive with the ideology that: “They pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. *That’s* the *Chicago* way!” But those days are long gone…….
And what do we get today with Rahm and the Fruit of Islam in charge? The blood shed continues. The body count rises. As long as it all happens in slow motion, no one cares. It’s all a scene only Stanley Kubrick could appreciate.

is chicago going back to Prohibition? shut down liquor stores? the police are going to shut down liquor stores???? what??? this is chicago value?? I am so glad we do not live in chicago….
Congrats on a terrific post, PT. But why would this be news? Gun control is at its nefarious best in Chicago. Does it work? Nope, but that doesn’t matter, just like with the job stimulus packages His Supreme Pestilence forced on the country. Once something’s in place, the MSM with its aversion to finding anything wrong with the current regime, doesn’t care any more. It’s much more fun to fawn over FatCake’s $7000.00 jacket.
this is horrible. there is no “acceptable level of homicide” Guns should be in the hands of police and no one else. if only the police had guns, there would not be so much crime. there are plenty of examples , Denmark for one, the citizens there do not carry guns, and there is no crime there. If there was more gun control, we would have less criminals!
It’s my opinion-
Interesting that you used Denmark and not Chicago to support your opinion. First, like I had stated and everyone knows, Chicago has some of the most strict gun laws in the us and still people are dying at a record rate! And not just by gunfire, either. Oh, maybe that’s why you didn’t use that city as a good example of gun control.
Had you done even a modicum of research before you used Denmark as an example of a ‘crime free’ country, you might have chosen differently. Google ‘denmark crime statistics’ and here’s what you’ll find:
Crime stats: Denmark vs United States
Total crime victims 23% 21.1%
as a % of population
Denmark Ranked 10th. 9% more than United States Ranked 15th.
Total Crimes per Country Denmark at #24 491,026
For a country where only the police have guns, Denmark is not such a ‘crime free’ country is it?
Thoughts for you to ponder:
A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against his government.” — Edward Abbey
“That government is best which governs least.” Thomas Paine
Finally, and most importantly:
“This is the real task before us: to reassert our commitment as a nation to a law higher than our own, to renew our spiritual strength. Only by building a wall of such spiritual resolve can we, as a free people, hope to protect our own heritage and make it someday the birthright of all men.” –Ronald Reagan
May God bless you and keep you, ‘It’s my opinion’, and give you peace. May his countenance shine down upon you and give you peace by allowing you to see the error of your ways.
I’m onna roll now and don’t need no butter! Left your blog and one of the first things I read on Fox News is another flash mob incident in Chicago:
“A Chicago clothing store owner is hoping YouTube viewers will help identify a flash mob he says stole around $3,000 in designer jeans.
Luke Cho, the owner of Mildblend Supply Co. in Wicker Park, posted a surveillance video of more than a dozen teens walking into the store Saturday and stuffing their bookbags with jeans before walking out, MyFoxChicago reports.”
Well, that made me think of Sinatra’s song “Chicago” and how it would be sung regarding the current state of that formerly great city:
“Chicago, Chicago, that lawless town
Chicago, Chicago, you don’t need a job – just join a flash mob
Bet your bottom dollar, you’ll lose your pants in Chicago
Chicago, the town that Rahm The Man couldn’t calm down
On State Street, that great street, Rahm called Farrakhan
He’ll do things that they don’t do on Broadway
Fruit of Islam will have the time, the time of their lives
To a man, they’ll dance with the devil in Chicago
Chicago, Obama’s home town
Chicago, Chicago, that lawless town
Chicago, Chicago, they’ll gun you all down
Bet your bottom dollar, you’ll lose your life in Chicago
Chicago, the town that Billy Graham avoids at all costs
Oh yeah, they do things that they don’t do on Broadway
Cause in Chicago they dance with the devil all night and all day!”
Hey to ‘Just a thought’, I don’t even know where to begin.
‘Guns should be in the hands of police and no one else’
Really?! Are you on crack?! Does the Second Amendment mean anything to you? Another LibTard w/more good ideas.
Hey maybe we could paint Teddy bears and unicorns and rainbows over the graffiti while we’re at it, then finish with a chorus of ‘We are the World”.
You’re trippin’ without luggage pal
Only a plethora or problems with your idea
correction:
I was aiming @ ‘it’s my opinion’
apology to ‘just a thought’
read the statistics, even Canadians think we should have stronger gun laws. Give peace a chance.
